Anand Mahindra was born on May 1st, 1955 in Mumbai, Maharashtra into a famous and wealthy business family. He is the son of Harish Mahindra and his mother’s name is Indira Mahindra. In 1977 He was a graduate of the ‘Department for Environmental and Visual Studies at Harvard College (Cambridge, Massachusetts), USA. In 1981, he earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Harvard Business School (HBS), Boston, Massachusetts. Then he got married to Anuradha Mahindra. With her, two daughters he had. The wife Anuradha is the editor of popular magazines like ‘Verve’ and “Men’s World” and the chief editor of ‘Rolling stone India’.

After having completed the MBA, Anand Mahindra returned to India in 1981. He was appointed to his first job in the capacity of Executive Assistant Director of Finance at Mahindra Ujin Steel Company (MUSCO). In 1989, it was time for the Mahindra & Mahindra Group to expand and he was appointed chairman of the department for “Real State Development and Hotelity’. In 1991, he took charge as Deputy Managing Director of ‘Mahindra & Mahindra Group’. He was appointed an executive director of the company in 1997. He was appointed the Vice Chairman of the business.

He is also co-chairperson for the World Economic Forum in Davos. Anand was selected as Director in the ‘Public Representative category of the ‘National Indian Stock Exchange Limited. Additionally, ‘K.C. Mahindra Education Trust, provides scholarships to deserving students. He also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Governors for Mahindra United World College, India.

Anand Mahindra donated $100 million to Harvard University in the name of his mother, Indira Mahindra, to enhance the work in the Humanities Center. Anand led by the director of the Homi Bhabha Humanities Center gave this sum of money to the creation and modernization of the specialized institutions at Harvard.
