Bhairon Singh Shekhawat is a renowned Indian politician who was also Vice-President of the nation. The only person who has won every election in Rajasthan since 1952 (except the assembly elections of 1972). He is regarded as an experienced and experienced figurehead within Indian politics. World Bank President Robert McNamara declared Shekhawat to be his “Rockefeller of India”. He was famous for his exemplary management of the bureaucratic system and the police.

Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, was born October 23 1923 in Khachariwas village in Sikar district in Rajasthan. It is his father’s name. Shri Devi Singh Shekhawat as well as Mrs. Banne Kanwar. He finished his education when his father passed away, due to which he was unable to continue his studies. After the death of his father, the burden of the family was shifted to him. In the beginning, he worked in farming and later became an inspector in the police. Later she was wed to Suraj Kanwar.

Bhairon Singh Shekhawat joined politics in the year 1952. From 1952 until 1972, the politician was a member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. In the election of 1967 in which it was the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and its partner, Swatantra Party came close to an overwhelming majority, but they failed to create an effective government. He was an official in the Rajya Sabha from 1974 to 1977. Member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from 1977 until 2002.

His party took the 151st of 200 seats and was elected the Chief Minister for Rajasthan. He served until the year 1980. Following the dissolutions from the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and the Swatantra Party in 1980, He became a member of the BJP and was the leader of the Opposition until the year 1990. In 1984 the BJP was defeated in the elections by Indira Gandhi’s government. In the election of 1989, the coalition of BJP and JD was able to win 25 seats in the Lok Sabha and 140 seats in the Rajasthan Assembly elections.

Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was again the chief minister of Rajasthan in 1990. He continued to serve until 1992. Under his direction, BJP won 99 seats in the next election. So he was able to form a government that had the support of independents however, Congress did not agree with the government. The year 1993 saw him elected his position as Chief Minister in Rajasthan for the 3rd time in row period of five years. He was defeated in 1998. lost in the election due to issues like the rise in prices for onions. Then, the BJP was victorious in victory in Lok Sabha election in the year 1999.

 

Of the twenty-five Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan, BJP has won 16 seats this time around. In 2002, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat won the election of Vice President beating Sushil Kumar Shinde. The opposition party received only 149 of the 750 votes. The month of July 2007 she was a candidate for the presidency as an independent candidate, backed by the National Democratic Alliance, but it was a loss which was followed by the incumbent Mrs. Pratibha Patil winning the election and being elected President of the nation. Following this, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was dismissed from the Vice-President’s post on the 21st of July, 2007.

He was given an honorary Doctorate of Medicine degree with an award of gold by the Asiatic Society, Mumbai, and Yerevan State Medical University, Armenia.

Death

Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was killed on the 15th of May, 2010 at Sawai Mansingh Hospital, Jaipur. He also has cancer. Along with prominent politicians, thousands of people attended the funeral.
