Farooq Abdullah is a well-known political figure from his home state of the Indian State of Jammu as well as Kashmir. He was Chief Minister for the past two years in Jammu and Kashmir State. The Kashmiri Party supports the autonomy of Kashmir within the Indian constitution, and believes for there should be a Line of Control should be defined to be an internationally recognized border. Farooq Abdullah is an active part of Delhi Golf Club, Royal Spring Golf Course, Kashmir & St Andu Scotland Golf Club. He is also President of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association.

1982 1983: Election to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and later became the Secretary of State for Health.

1983: He joined 1983 the Assembly again and then became the chief minister.

1987: He was elected to the elections to Assembly for the 3rd time, and was elected the new chief minister.

1996 The year 1996: He won the Assembly elections for the fourth consecutive time and was appointed the chief minister of the state.

2002: Nominated for the Rajya Sabha for the first time.

2008: Incorporated into to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly for the fifth time.
