Ram Bull Chand Jethmalani is an eminent Indian politician and lawyer. He was also a Former Law Minister from India and the President of the Bar Council of India. He is currently the President of the Bar Council of India. In the course of his legal career, Ram Jethmalani has come to the attention of judges many times for arguing controversial and high-profile cases. The lawyer is thought to be one of the highest-priced lawyers in the Supreme Court of India, but he also argued several cases without charge.

In addition to his public statements and lawsuits, he’s been featured in news reports often due to his lifestyle. Ram Jethmalani was born on 14 September 1923 in Shikarpur, Sindh (now in Pakistan). The name of his father is Bhulchand Gurumukhdas Jethmalani, and the name of his mother is Parbati Bhulchand. His initial education was in an elementary school in the local area. He excelled in his studies and so his promotion to a higher grade at school was twice more than his normal class, the result of which he was able to pass the matriculation exam at just thirteen. At 17 years old He joined S.C. in Karachi. L.L.B was his name from Sahni Law College. At the time, 21 years old was the minimum age for practicing, however, Jethmalani was permitted to practice as early as 18 after passing an additional resolution. Then he attended S.C. LLM from Sawhney Law College. Also, he earned an education.

Ram Jethmalani married Durga at the age of 18. In the days before the division of the nation at the time of 1947, he got married to Ratna Sahni (a lawyer by profession). He had four children with these two wives: Rani, Shobha, Mahesh, and Janak.

Ram Jethmalani started his career as an instructor in Sindh. Then he met his colleague A.K. Brohi (who later Pakistan’s Law Mini stand er) and founded the Law business in Karachi. Brohi recommended he quit Pakisforn to India after riots broke out in Karachi following the division of Pakistan in 1948.

He joined the faculty in 1953. began teaching at Government Law College, Mumbai. There, he taught postgraduate and undergraduate students. He is a professor of Comparative Law and International Law at Wayne State University, Detroit, USA.

Life in the political arena

In the year 1971 was the first time he ran in an election to the Lok Sabha for the first time in Ulhas Nagar but did not be successful. In the Emergency (1975-77) in the country, he was president of the Bar Council of India and was adamantly critical of the Prime Minister. In the end, the government issued an arrest warrant for the man, and he quit the country in Canada. In the aftermath of the emergency incident, he was able to return to India.

Following the Emergency in 1977, the former Law Minister H.R. He joined the Lok Sabha in the very first election following his defeat of Gokhale in Gokhale’s Bombay Lok Sabha constituency, however, Morarji Desai did not like his lifestyle and was unable to be appointed Law Minister. In 1980, he once more took the victory in elections to the Lok Sabha elections but in 1985, he was unable to be able to beat Sunil Dutt.

Anand was elected into the Rajya Sabha in 1988  in 1996 was appointed the Minister of the Union for Law, Justice and Company Affairs in the Vajpayee-led government. The appointment was made as the Urban affairs as well as Employment Minister on the 28th of October 1998 he was appointed after 1999, in the role of Law, Justice, and Company Affairs Minister. At the time, Supreme Court Justice A.S. Prime Minister Vajpayee demanded that he quit as a minister to due his controversial remarks about Anand.

In 2004, during the Lok Sabha elections, he was a candidate for an independent for his Lucknow Lok Sabha constituency against the former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He suffered a devastating defeat.

In 2010 The Bharatiya Janata Party was once again elected to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan. He was in the 2012 election when he was adamant about the leadership of the Bharatiya Janatanata Party in conjunction with UPA. He wrote to the part then-Presidentdent Nitin Gadkari accusing him of not speaking out about the scandals of the previous government following which he was banned by the party six years in May 2013.
