History
The temple was constructed in the period between the 11th and 12th centuries AD by the Ikshvaku Dynasty. It is famous for its architectural style. The temple was ruled in the 12th century by Kunduru Cholas. The temple is surrounded by an enormous Nandi located in front of the mandapam central.
