How To Reach Hemkund Sahib

Start your journey from Govindghat, which is the base point for the trek. Govindghat is accessible by road and can be reached by hiring a taxi or taking a bus from major cities like Rishikesh or Haridwar in Uttarakhand.

Trek from Govindghat to Ghangaria, a distance of approximately 14 kilometers (8.7 miles). The well-marked trail takes you through scenic landscapes, crossing bridges and waterfalls along the way. It usually takes 6-8 hours to complete this trek, so ensure you have proper trekking gear and enough water and snacks.

From Ghangaria, trek another 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) uphill to reach Hemkund Sahib. This part of the trek is steep and challenging, requiring careful navigation. The trail rewards you with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the serene Hemkund Lake. It takes about 3-4 hours to complete this ascent.

After visiting Hemkund Sahib, you can retrace your steps back to Ghangaria and spend the night there.

The next day, trek back from Ghangaria to Govindghat, which is a relatively easier descent. It takes around 3-4 hours to reach Govindghat from Ghangaria.
