Maharashtra Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, also known as the Grishneshwar Temple or Ghushmeshwar Temple, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. It is situated in the village of Verul, which is located near the city of Aurangabad in Maharashtra, India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, who is worshipped here in the form of Jyotirlinga. History of Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga Temple:
According to Hindu mythology, the Grishneshwar Temple is associated with the legend of Shiva and Parvati. It is believed that once Parvati created a beautiful mansion and asked Shiva to reside there with her. However, Shiva refused to do so, saying that he would only stay in a place where he was worshipped by his devotees. Parvati then asked him to choose a place where he would be worshipped eternally. Shiva chose the present site of the Grishneshwar Temple and manifested himself in the form of Jyotirlinga.
Another legend associated with the temple is that of a devout woman named Kusuma. She was married to a wealthy merchant, but her father-in-law did not approve of her devotion to Lord Shiva. One day, he destroyed her Shiva Linga and threw it into a nearby lake. Kusuma was heartbroken and started praying to Lord Shiva for a new Linga. Pleased with her devotion, Lord Shiva appeared before her and asked her to take a dip in the lake. When she did so, she found a new Linga in her hand. She then installed the Linga at the present site of the Grishneshwar Temple.
The temple is said to have been renovated by Maloji Bhosale, the grandfather of Shivaji, the founder of the Maratha Empire. In the 18th century, the temple was destroyed by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. It was later rebuilt by the Maratha rulers in the 18th century.

The Grishneshwar Temple is built in the South Indian architectural style, with a pyramid-shaped tower over the sanctum sanctorum.
