The Jurala project, which is also known as the Priyadarshini Project is located at a distance of 10 kilometers from Kurvapur village in the Mahabubnagar district of Telangana. Laid over the Krishna River, the Reservoir is at a level of 1045 feet. This power project which has a capacity of 11.94 TMC, was inaugurated in the year 1995. At the site, the water from the Kuravpur Kshetra River joins the waters of this project.

The place Jurala is located at a distance of about 60 kilometers away from Mahabubnagar town in between the Atmakur and Gadwal towns. You can reach the Jurala Dam by boarding a train from Gadwall and from there you will have to travel 20 kilometers to reach the project. The River Krishna enters Telangana through the Mahabubnagar district.This is the only Hydroelectric Project in Telangana that has water throughout the year, and this reason makes the dam nationally important, and tourists, especially from Karnataka and Maharashtra, visit this place.

Apart from the dam which pours out with life throughout the year, there is a Deer Park at a distance of about 1½ kilometers from the reservoir. The park has about 100 deer. Adding a hint of spirituality to the place is the Ramalayam and Parthasaradhi Temple near the Jurala Dam. The Dam has many local tourists visiting around the year.

ప్రియదర్శిని జూరాల ప్రాజెక్టు
మహబూబ్ నగర్ జిల్లా లోని ప్రముఖ ప్రాజెక్టులలో జూరాలా ప్రాజెక్టు ఒకటి. ఈ ప్రాజెక్టు ధరూరు మండలం రేవులపల్లి గ్రామం వద్ద నిర్మించబడింది. ఇది ఒక పర్యాటక స్థలంగానూ అభివృద్ధి చెందింది. కృష్ణానది తెలంగాణ లో ప్రవేశించిన తరువాత ఈ నదిపై నిర్మించియున్న మొదటి ప్రాజెక్టు ఇదే.
ఈ ప్రాజెక్టు నిర్మాణాన్ని 1981 లో ప్రారంబించి, 1996 లో మొదటి దశ కింద నీటిని విడుదల చేశారు. నిర్మాణం పూర్తి కావడానికి సుమారు 15 సంవత్సరాల కాలం పట్టింది. ప్రాజెక్టు నిర్మాణానికి అంచనా వ్యయం రూ.76.40 కోట్లు కాగా వాస్తవంగా సుమారు రూ.550 కోట్లు ఖర్చయింది. ఈ ప్రాజెక్టు కింద మొత్తం లక్ష ఎకరాల ఆయకట్టు భూమి ఉంది.
ఆత్మకూరు నుంచి గద్వాల వెళ్ళు రోడ్డు మార్గములో ఆత్మకూరు పట్టణానికి 15 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలో ఈ ప్రాజెక్టు ఉంది. ఆత్మకూరు-గద్వాల రహదారి ఈ ప్రాజెక్టు పైనుంచి వెళ్ళుతుంది. ఇది పర్యాటక స్థలంగా కూడా విలసిల్లుతోంది. ఇక్కడ 240 మెగావాట్ల జలవిద్యుత్ ఉత్పాదన కేంద్రం నిర్మించి విద్యుత్ ఉత్పత్తి చేస్తున్నారు.
జలవిద్యుత్ కేంద్రం:
జూరాలా జలవిద్యుత్ కేంద్రంలో 6 యూనిట్లు ఉన్నాయి. ఒక్కోదాని సామర్థ్యం 39 మెగావాట్లు. మొత్తం విద్యుత్ సామర్థ్యం 234 మెగావాట్లు. 2004 డిసెంబరులో పనులు ప్రారంభం కాగా 2008 ఆగస్టులో 2 యూనిట్లు, 2009 మేలో 3వ యూనిట్ ప్రారంభమైంది.
కుడి, ఎడమ కాల్వలు:
జూరాల కుడి కాలువ 50 కిమీ పొడవు, ఎడమ కాలువ 85 కిమీ పొడవు ఉన్నాయి.ఇవి 67500 ఎకరాలకు నీరందిస్తాయి. బచావత్ ట్రిబ్యునల్ ప్రకారం కృష్ణా బేసిన్‌లో జూరాలకు 11.94 టీఎంసీలు కేటాయించారు.
పర్యాటక ప్రాంతం
ఇది పర్యాటక స్థలంగా కూడా విలసిల్లుతోంది. జూన్ నుండి ఆగస్టు వరకు వరదల కారణంగా ప్రాజెక్టు నీటితో కళకళలాడుతుంది. ఈ సమయంలో అధిక సంఖ్యలో పర్యాటకులు ప్రాజెక్టును సందర్శిస్తుంటారు. అలాగే ఆదివారాలు, ఇతర సెలవు దినాలలో కూడా సందర్శకులు వస్తుంటారు. ప్రాజెక్టుకు సమీపంలో జింకల పార్కు ఉండేది, సరైన సంరక్షణ లేక కనుమరుగైంది. ఈ ప్రాజెక్టుకు కొన్ని కిలో మీటర్ల దూరంలో చంద్రగఢ్ కోట, పెద్ద చింతరేవుల ఆంజనేయ స్వామి దేవాలయం, పాగుంట వేంకటేశ్వర స్వామి ఆలయం వంటి దర్శనీయ స్థలాలు కూడా ఉన్నాయి.
