The central government launched its flagship Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) in Telangana on April 14, 2018. Now a free LPG gas connection is provided for all families below the poverty level (BPL) in the state. PMUY at Telangana LPG Scheme will provide free gas connections to about 20 lakh families.
Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the launch of PMUY Scheme and participated in the official opening event. The event took place at SV Degree College Grounds in Suryapet, where 1,000 connections will be provided to the beneficiaries marking the launch of PMUY in that state. Due to the existing Deepam system, the number of beneficiaries in Telangana is lower.
In its second phase, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) will track all SC / ST budgets together with other beneficiaries. This scheme benefits women belonging to poor and disadvantaged groups. PMUY will work to reduce the use of firewood and conventional biomass fuels, which can potentially cause respiratory problems.
