PMUY in Telangana – LPG Gas Free Connection Under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

The central government launched its flagship Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) in Telangana on April 14, 2018. Now a free LPG gas connection is provided for all families below the poverty level (BPL) in the state. PMUY at Telangana LPG Scheme will provide free gas connections to about 20 lakh families.

Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the launch of PMUY Scheme and participated in the official opening event. The event took place at SV Degree College Grounds in Suryapet, where 1,000 connections will be provided to the beneficiaries marking the launch of PMUY in that state. Due to the existing Deepam system, the number of beneficiaries in Telangana is lower.

In its second phase, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) will track all SC / ST budgets together with other beneficiaries. This scheme benefits women belonging to poor and disadvantaged groups. PMUY will work to reduce the use of firewood and conventional biomass fuels, which can potentially cause respiratory problems.

The central government has introduced PMUY Scheme into the state to cover all bpl houses and to create a smoke-free environment for children and women. In the first year, 3 oil marketing companies – IOC, BPCL and HPCL – want to issue 2-3 lakh of new free gas connections. All beneficiaries receive the stove, regulator and 6 LPG gas bottles for free. There are approximately 94.36 lakh domestic gas connections in Telangana. Most people in the state already have LPG connections under the existing Deepam scheme. This scheme will benefit mainly rural households, as only 60% to 70% of poor families have access to gas.

PMUY in Telangana will also have the EMI option that companies offer to their beneficiaries to receive the furnace and first charge. All PMUY beneficiaries have the option of paying their EMI directly through their LPG subsidy amount on their bank accounts. The first EMI / payment starts with the delivery of the 7th charge.

PMUY Scheme was launched on May 1, 2016 by Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. Under this scheme, the government. had decided to offer free LPG connections to 5 million families. The PMUY LPG gas interconnection system now includes all SC / ST households, PMAY G beneficiaries and Antyodaya Anna Yojana – beneficiaries of the AAY, forest dwellers, backward classes, tea tribes / former tea gardens and people living on islands and rivers. Under PMUY, Central Government. gives Rs. 1600 per connection as financial help. This amount will be paid to the OMCs for 14.2 kg bottle safety tanks, pressure regulators and installation / demonstration fees (payable to dealers), together with the cost of the domestic consumer / Blue gas card.

Free LPG gas connections are issued on behalf of women belonging to BPL families. As a security restriction, only BPL families with “Pucca” Ghar can only use this scheme to ensure their security.
