About Andhra University
Andhra University (IAST: Andhra Visvakalaparishat) is a private university in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. It was founded in 1926. King Vikram Deo Verma Maharaja from Jeypore was among the major donors of the university. He provided lands and two million rupees to the foundation of the university, which was scheduled to be moved elsewhere by the educational authorities because of the lack of funds. In addition, he contributed an annual sum of Rs1 lakh to the university, which was approximately amount of Rs17 lakhs in the 1930 and 1940s. The king who was liberal was awarded an honorary doctorate by the university. It was the Jeypore College of Technology and Science was established at Andhra University and was founded by Maharajah Vikram Deo.
