Atal Bihari Vajpayee, an ex-Prime Minister from India. He was politically active throughout his lifetime. Atal Bihari Bajpayee is the only leader since Lal Nehru to serve as the Prime Secretary for three consecutive years. He is still among India’s topmost revered and inspiring politicians. Vajpayee was also the president of several organizations and councils. Vajpayee was a renowned poet and an excellent orator. As the leader of India, he was famous for his impeccable image and his democratic and liberal opinions. He was given India’s most prestigious civilian prize in the year 2015.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on the 25th of December 1924, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. The actor is among seven children of Krishna Bihari Vajpayee and his mother Krishna Devi. The father of the family was an academic as well as a teacher at school. After finishing his education, he attended Lakshmibai College and DAV College in Kanpur to further his studies. He received his master’s diploma in economics from the college. He was a candidate for additional studies at Lucknow but was not able to pursue his studies. Joined RSS. Vajpayee’s political career began as a liberation fighter. He was detained along with other leaders due to his participation in the “Quit India Movement in 1942. It was at this time that he came across Shyama Prasad Mukherjee who was a member of Bharatiya Jan Sangh i.e. B.J.S. Vajpayee’s political leader backed his agenda. Mukherjee passed away shortly due to health issues and B.J.S. Vajpayee assumed the mandate and continued the vision and goals of the institution. In 1954 the year he was elected an MP from the Balrampur seat. Despite his age, Vajpayee’s wide-ranging understanding and vision earned him respect and prominence within his political world.

 

Vajpayee was appointed Foreign Affairs Minister on the 27th of July 1977 after his Morarji Desai government was formed. The following year, he was for a meeting with China. The year 1971 was the first time he traveled to Pakistan and commenced the initiative of reviving relations with India and Pakistan that were damaged by the Indo-Pakistani War. In 1971, his party, the Janata Party started the RSS. The minister was attacked and quit in 1979. In 1980, the decision to establish the foundations of the Bharatiya Janata Party was taken by him and his colleagues such as LK Advani as well as Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, both from BJS as well as RSS. Following the 1999’s Lok Sabha elections, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) had a chance to form a government, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee once again was elected as Premier Minister. During this time the government ran for five years in office and became the first non-Congress administration to achieve this. With the support of allies, Vajpayee launched several initiatives to push for economic reforms and business in the private sector.

 

The government tried to limit government intervention in the industry. Vajpayee supported foreign investment and research in the area of information technology. Because of the innovative policies and concepts that he formulated, the Indian economy grew rapidly. His administration further intensified bilateral relations by establishing a friendship with Pakistan as well as the USA. While Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s foreign policy did not result in any significant change, his policies were well-received.

NDA has finished five years. In the elections of 2005, the alliance entered elections with complete confidence under the direction of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. But at this time they were the UPA with the leadership of Congress. The alliance won and was able to form the government.

On December 5, 2005, Atal Bihari Vajpayee declared his resignation from politics.

Personal life

Vajpayee was a celibate man throughout his life. He was adopted by Namitha Bhattacharya who was the child of Rajkumari Kaul and BN Kaul.

Death

He was diagnosed with a stroke in 2009. was struck by an attack on the brain, and his health declined. In June 2018, he enrolled in AIIMS. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and died there. the death took place on 16 August 2018. On the 17th of August, the adopted daughter Namita Kaul Bhattacharya died at a cremation. Their samadhi of his was constructed on the memorial at Shanti Van close to Rajghat.

He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 1992 for his exceptional service to the nation.

He was awarded an honorary doctorate from Kanpur University in 1993.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee received Lokamanya Tilak in 1994.

In 1994, the Pandit Gobind Vallabh Pant Award was also given.

Best Parliamentarian Award in 1994.

He was awarded the award in 2015. won the highest civilian award in the country “Bharat Ratna”.
