When he was 23 he opened a store with the assistance of his family and began selling records and audio cassettes. On the 12th of August, 1997 Gulshan was killed in front of the Jeeteshwar Mahadev Temple in Jeet Nagar an eastern suburb that is located in Andheri, Mumbai. A contract killer identified as Abdul Rauf confessed to receiving the money to pay in exchange for Gulshan the murder of Kumar in 2001 while Mumbai police accused the music director couple Nadeem-Shravan of orchestrating Nadeem’s murder. On the 29th of April, 2009 Rauf received a life sentence in prison. Gulshan Kumar’s final burial was performed in Delhi by the wishes of his family members.

Inheritance

Following Gulshan Kumar’s demise his son, Bhushan Kumar assumed the helm for Super Cassettes Industries Limited. Tulsi Kumar, his daughter Tulsi Kumar was a renowned performer.
