Gulshan Kumar was born to the Punjabi Arora family from Delhi which is the capital of India. The real name of his father is Gulshan Dua. When he was 23 he opened a store with the assistance of his family and began selling records and audio cassettes. This was a huge success. Gulshan became a millionaire and became one of many of the highest-performing persons in the world of music. After making a move in the music industry and then moving to Mumbai and then moving to the Hindi movie industry i.e. ‘Bollywood’. Alongside film music, he has made an impressive foray into the realm of religious music using the same simple formula of affordable and high-quality cassettes. While the previous two films failed, Gulshan once again teamed up with their brother Kishan to make ‘Sanam’.


Although there isn’t any discussion about the film it was successful due to its acoustic soundtrack. It also provided a brand new identity to the struggling musician Sonu Nigam. Together with Sonu Nigam, Gulshan Kumar has brought to the world of music many talented singers, most notably among the group are Kumar Sanu, Anuradha Paudwal, and Vandana Bajpai.

Gulshan Kumar established Super Cassettes Industries Limited (SCIL) which later was the apex music company in India. He established T-Series, a music label in the music business. On the 12th of August, 1997 Gulshan was killed in front of the Jeeteshwar Mahadev Temple in Jeet Nagar an eastern suburb that is located in Andheri, Mumbai. A contract killer identified as Abdul Rauf confessed to receiving the money to pay in exchange for Gulshan the murder of Kumar in 2001 while Mumbai police accused the music director couple Nadeem-Shravan of orchestrating Nadeem’s murder. On the 29th of April, 2009 Rauf received a life sentence in prison. Gulshan Kumar’s final burial was performed in Delhi by the wishes of his family members.


Following Gulshan Kumar’s demise his son, Bhushan Kumar assumed the helm for Super Cassettes Industries Limited. Tulsi Kumar, his daughter Tulsi Kumar was a renowned performer.
