Lalu Prasad Yadav is an Indian politician who was the Vice-Chairman of Bihar. He was also the railway minister in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government in the Center between 2004 and 2009. Lalu Prasad’s personality and funny manner of talking has made him a popular figure in India. He is a well-known politician, not just in Bihar but throughout the whole nation. He is also a student leader.
His inborn leadership abilities and sharp political savvy led him to be the most adored politician in Bihar. Lalu Prasad was the Chief Minister of Bihar for seven years. His name appears within the Limca Book of Records as the longest-running president of a political party. It is well known that he elevated the administration and management of Indian Railways to a new stage as the Minister of Railways.
Lalu Prasad Yadav’s image has been brought to the forefront in corruption cases such as Fodder’s scam. On the 3rd of October, 2013 He was sentenced to five years imprisonment and was fined the sum of Rs. He was imprisoned for two months following when the Supreme Court released him on bail on 13 December.

Lalu Prasad Yadav was born on the 11th of June 1948 in the Phulwariya village in Gopalganj, Bihar in a farming family. His parents’ names include Marachia Devi and Kundan Roy. He started his education at Gopalganj and later moved to Patna to further study. He finished his graduation in Law and post-graduation in Politics Science at BN College, Patna. He was highly involved in the student political scene from the time he was in college. That was the moment he came into the mainstream of politics and, as they say, it’s all history. He got married to Rabri Devi on June 1, 1973. The couple has two daughters and two sons.

Life in politics
Lalu Prasad Yadav was very involved in the student political scene and in 1970 was elected the General Secretary of the Patna University Student Union. He was heavily influenced by prominent figures like Jai Prakash Narayan, Raj Narain, Karpuri Thakur, and Satyendra Narayan Sinha. Lalu Prasad Yadav contested the Lok Sabha elections with the backing of his former Bihar chief minister and Bihar State Janata Party President Satyendra Narayan Sinha. Lalu Prasad won the election and became one of the youngest members of the Indian Parliament.
Within 10 decades, Lalu Prasad Yadav became an important politician in Bihar politics. He was elected as the Chief Minister of Bihar beating his predecessor, the Chief Minister Ram Sundar Das. Because of his differences in his relationship with Janata Dal, a separate political party called Rashtriya Janata Dal was formed in 1997. After serving as chief minister of Bihar for over seven years, and being detained in the ‘Dana Kumbhakam’, Lalu resigned as Chief Minister and appointed the wife of his former colleague Rabri Devi as the chief minister of Bihar.
He was elected to Lok Sabha elections from Chhapra and Madhepura and was also a Union Railway Minister during the UPA government. Lalu Prasad Yadav transformed the railway into a profitable enterprise. The transformation of railways facilitated by Lalu has been the focus of research at the most prestigious business institutes across India and business schools across the globe.
The year 2005 was the time his political party was disbanded following a loss in his bid to win the Bihar Assembly elections and winning only four seats during his 2009 Lok Sabha elections, leaving Lalu not able to secure a position as a central minister.
His party hasn’t been in control of the state since. He is a political adversary Nitish Kumar was at war against the BJP. He was the head of two governments simultaneously. If Nitish Kumar’s NDA was split from every two rivals, the former enemies Lalu and Nitish joined hands with one the other.
Lalu Prasad Yadav is very well-known in the state of Bihar and several works have been published about the Bihar state by local writers. He is always a participant in entertaining programs on television. From chocolate to tobacco and cosmetics to toys, each new product was introduced to the market by copying them or naming them. in 2004, the film “Padmashree Lalu Yadav” also came out.
