The government of Andhra Pradesh founded Nalgonda University in 2007 vide government orders in GO19 / HE (UE-II) Department, dt: 13/3/2007 by a reasonable amendment to the Andhra Pradesh Universities Act 1991 pursuant to Section 3 para. In LABill no. 4 of 2007. The foundation of this university is part of the vision of the Andhra Pradesh government to promote access, justice and inclusion in higher education.
This university was renamed by the government of Andhra Pradesh as the Mahatma Gandhi University by changing the plan of Law 4 of 1991, published in the AP Gazette on April 28, The university headquarters were in Nalgonda City in the 2010-11 year and its permanent campus is being developed in 240 hectares of land for the university on the state road (Nalgonda – Narketpally) at Anneparthy, 7 km from Nalgonda city.
