OU Ph.D. 2024 Notification Eligibility Criteria

These are the requirements for admission to research subjects:

Candidates must possess at least a Degree that is Post Graduate degree from an accredited university or a Postgraduate degree via Distance Mode that is accredited by a University with no lower than 55% marks. Or an equivalent CGPA for the Post Graduate Graduation (not more than 50 percentage points or equivalent CGPA for SC/ST/PH students).

Candidates must pass an exam called the Ph.D. Test of eligibility for the field where they would like to pursue a Ph.D.

OR

Candidates must have been awarded a research fellowship through a national-level test that is conducted by national-level organizations like UGC or CSIR or ICAR or ICMRor DBT as well as through a national-level organization like the DST-INSPIRE fellowship) as well as Teacher Fellowship applicants subject to approval through the Director at Osmania University.

OR

Completed the UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/SET-TS/AP/JEST/GATE/ GPAT examinations.

OU Ph.D. Admission 2024 Guidelines Eligibility Test

 

Osmania University holds “Ph.D. Eligibility Exams” for a range of disciplines. Candidates with a minimum of 80% of marks on their P.G. degrees can sit for the Ph.D. Eligibility Test.

The below applicants are not required to take the O.U. Ph.D. Eligibility Test:

Candidates who have been awarded an award for research,

Those who have passed the UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/SET-TS/AP/JEST/GATE/ GPAT Exam.

Students who have an official M.Phil. degree in the subject or a Ph.D. within an associated subject that is approved through Osmania University.

Entrance Exam Pattern

The Ph.D. coursework must contain two theoretical papers:

1. Paper (100 points) Research Methodology The syllabus for this paper contains the research methods/methods used by the subject.

Paper 2: General area that is specialized (100 points) The syllabus of this paper contains current concepts and trends in the area’s specialization.

The exam will be administered in English in all subject areas, except those in which the official language of instruction is a different language that is not English.

Passing Marks Passing Marks: 50% on each of the papers.

Ph.D. Viva-Voce Examination

Candidates’ Ph.D. viva voce examination will be conducted only after all three examiners agree they recommend that the Ph.D. degree be awarded. A Controller of Examinations directs the Chairperson to establish a Board of Examiners to conduct the Ph.D. viva voce examination.

Osmania University awards scholarships in the following categories to outstanding and meritorious students as well as financially challenged students:

The university offers financial assistance or scholarships to students with economically challenged backgrounds. Students who are chosen for this award will be awarded INR 250 per month during the scholarship program.

The government of Andhra Pradesh offers scholarships to Andhra Pradesh government for students who fall into categories such as SC, ST, and OBC categories. Scholarships are granted based on applicants’ income and casting certificate. Additionally, candidates must be in a minimum of 75 percent attendance to be eligible for scholarships.
