Telangana University was established by Law No. 28 of the State Government in 2006. The university was founded to make university education accessible to the pedagogically backward district of Nizamabad in Telangana. Telangana University was the renowned NAAC class “B” with a good score of 2.61 in the first cycle assessment conducted in December 2015. The university was first started with six courses and it was opened in the PG building of the Govt. Giriraj College in the Dubba area in Nizamabad city.
